| BRUSSELS—China overtook Germany in 2009 to become the world's second largest producer of wind power behind the United States. According to the Global Wind Energy Council, China's total power capacity has increased to 25.8 gigawatts, squeaking past Germany's 25.77 gigawatts. The U.S. has the most wind power capacity at 35 gigawatts, 36 percent of the world's total. However, the wind energy group said it expects China to eventually overtake the U.S. and exceed its own target of 150 gigawatts of power by 2020. China is the world's biggest emitter of greenhouse gases, but is turning to renewable energy as its growing economy calls for more power. Even with the large scale growth, wind power still accounts for only 1 percent of China's total electricity consumption. Autocraft is one of the major wind power fastener maker in China. It supplies blade bolts, cross bolts, studs, structural bolt assemblies (bolt, nut and washer assembly) and foundation bolts to the major wind turbine builders, wind turbine blade makers, and wind farm builders. It supplies directly to China National Building Material Group Corporation (wind turbine blade manufacturer), China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (off shore wind power), Envision Energy, etc. It also supplies Vestas, GE Energy and Clipper through Tier One suppliers. | |
